Middle School Parents, Friday, May 7th we are going on a school-wide field trip to USC Salkahatchie to celebrate the launch of broadband internet service in Allendale County. We will depart campus at 11:50 am and return around 2:30 pm. There will be no virtual classes after 10:30 am. Any students attending school on Friday who have not turned in a permission slip, must be picked up by 11:00 am. Expect a delay in bus riders getting home Friday. Middle School Parents, This is friendly reminder about on campus state testing, Tuesday, May 4, 2021. State law requires students to test in certain courses and grade levels. All testing must be completed in-person. No virtual testing is available. Breakfast will be served from 8:00 a.m - 8:30 a.m. Testing will start promptly at 9:00 a.m. Other Reminders: 1. Fully charge iPads each night. 2. School uniforms are required. If students do not have a uniform, please dress appropriately otherwise (no ripped jeans, short shorts, no slides, tank tops, white t-shirts, hats, or head wraps). 3. Bring bottled water 4. Middle School Parents, On Thursday, April 15, 2021 from 3:30 pm - 6:30 pm we will hold 4th Quarter Parent-Teacher Conferences in-person and virtually by appointment. Information on how to sign-up for a conference will be shared by the end of the day, Tuesday, April 13th. I also want to remind you that Wednesday, April 14th is an e-Learning day district-wide for Allendale County Schools (faculty/staff vaccinations). In-person students will not report to campus. All students are expected to log on to complete assignments and to be marked present for the day (follow teacher instructions). Friday, April 16th is a half-day for virtual and in person students. School will be dismissed at 12:45 pm. Virtual students are expected to log in for classes while in-person students report to campus. The schedules for each Friday until the end of the school year will be shared through Microsoft Teams, posted on our school website, shared on social media, and sent to parents via SMS text message tomorrow. Middle School Parents, Thursday, April 1, 2021 we will be on regular schedule. All virtual and in-person students need to be present for each class. Thursday is the 135th day of school and we want to ensure as many students are counted present for funding in the 21-22 School Year. Please make sure your student is present for as many classes as possible daily. Friday, April 2, 2021 is the first Friday students will attend school. School will dismiss at 1:45 pm for in-person students. Virtual students will log on for first period to get instructions on how to complete the Virtual Career Fair and when. For the reminder of the school day, Virtual students will have Work From Home assignments and finish up their iReady for the week. Check their iReady time weekly to ensure they spend at least 60 minutes each on math and reading. Students must also pass 2 lessons per week in both subjects—including Spring Break. Middle School Parents, I have a few updates to share with you as we head into the weekend. Next week starts our first 5-day learning week for in-person students. Students who attend school in person will now report to school on Fridays. On campus benchmark testing will occur on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week (March 30-31). Any virtual students planning to attend testing on campus next week, must complete the survey shared by his/her teacher. Check your Microsoft Teams for the survey. Students will remain at school all-day on testing days. Thursday, April 1st AFMS will host a Virtual Curriculum Night. We invite all students and parents to attend.
