Good Morning Parents and Guardians,
This week, Allendale-Fairfax Middle School is celebrating Read Across America Spirit Week! For Monday, March 3rd, the theme is: “Why fit in when you can stand out?” To celebrate, our students are encouraged to stand out by wearing Crocs & colorful socks! Thank you for your support in making this a fun and engaging week for our students. We look forward to seeing their creativity and school spirit!
There was also a performance by the 06 Drum Group. Drumming is the heartbeat of Black culture. Their rhythm echoed the spirit of our ancestors while celebrating the freedoms we have today. It is important that our students recognize the heritage and embrace our rich history.
We were mesmerized by the performances from Praise in Motion and the AFMS Dance Club during our Black History Concert! Through movement, they told powerful stories, capturing the spirit, resilience, and joy deeply rooted in Black culture. Dance has always been a form of expression, resistance, and celebration, and our students honored that tradition beautifully.
The AFMHS Chorus performed musical selections like "Lift Every Voice" that were powerful and uplifting. Although we are honoring the past, it is important that we move forward with hope and faith for a better future. We must remain resilient and continue their fight, ensuring that their sacrifices were not in vain and that future generations inherit a world of justice, equality, and opportunity.
The AFMHS Chorus delivered two outstanding performances, showcasing their growth and dedication. Their hard work is evident as they continue to perfect their craft. From powerful harmonies to inspiring lyrics, their talent shines brighter with each performance. We couldn’t be prouder of their passion and progress!
Thank you to everyone who participated in and attended our Black History Concert! Celebrating Black history isn’t just about remembering the past—it’s about honoring the culture, resilience, and contributions that shape our present and future. We hope this event inspired a deeper appreciation for our history and a commitment to building a brighter, more inclusive future. Let’s continue to uplift, educate, and celebrate!
As we continue our week-long Black History Month celebration, our students put on a live gallery walk, making history come alive in a truly inspiring way. They delivered powerful speeches and reenacted iconic figures such as Maya Angelou, Jackie Robinson, and Lebron James. Parents and students then explored incredible artwork and biographies created by our scholars. We are so proud of our students for honoring Black excellence with such creativity!
Today is your last chance to support the AFMHS Chorus by purchasing Krispy Kreme donuts or certificates. This fundraiser sponsors the costs for our choir to travel to New York in 2026. This is a invaluable experience that we would love for our students to have. After their stellar performances, we think they deserve it! The panelists answered questions from our aspiring students, reminding them of the strong support system and resources available right here in Allendale. Though each panelist's journey was unique, they all share the same grit and ambition. Mr. Johnson emphasized that being raised in Allendale County builds resilience and strength.
Our AFMHS Chorus Donut Fundraiser is almost over! Help our choral students hit the high notes in New York by purchasing a box of doughnuts from a chorus student. All proceeds will go towards a trip to New York in 2026. We appreciate any contribution you can make, as we want to make this happen for our dedicated and skilled choir.
